Congratulations to Lincoln Newby (2025 Cohort) for achieving the Highest Mark in the World for A level PE! He is currently studying Sports and Exercise Science at Newcastle University.
How did you feel when you first found out you achieved the highest mark in the world?
I felt great because it came as a real surprise!
What do you think contributed most to your success in the subject?
I enjoyed the subject a lot, and it was my main focus.
How did you approach revision and balance the practical and theoretical parts of PE?
I found the practical part easy, as I was already doing it as my sport. For the theoretical side, I just worked hard and focused on the areas I found challenging.
How did your teachers at Tanglin support you along the way?
They were very supportive and encouraged me throughout the whole process.
What first sparked your interest in studying PE at A Level? How has your background in sport shaped your understanding of the subject?
I’ve been involved in sports all my life, so I always knew I’d do PE. I play regularly and work out often, so I’ve always connected PE to the sports I participate in.
What advice would you give to younger students taking PE A Level?
My advice would be not to stress and find a good work-life balance, or you will risk burning out.
